Cabaret & Ball

Edwardian Masquerade

Join us in the Ballroom of Home2 Suites at Parc Lafayette from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM on Saturday, March 11, 2023, for the first annual Steampunk Cabaret & Ball! Ball tickets may be purchased separately and are $35.00 per person and are included in the cost of VIP Passes.

The theme is based upon The Phantom of the Opera (French: Le Fantôme de l’Opéra) a French novel by author Gaston Leroux. It was first published as a serial in Le Gaulois from 23 September 1909 to 8 January 1910 and was released in volume form in late March 1910 by Pierre Lafitte. The novel is partly inspired by historical events at the Paris Opera during the nineteenth century, and by an apocryphal tale concerning the use of a former ballet pupil’s skeleton in Carl Maria von Weber’s 1841 production of Der Freischütz.

Like the novel, the Cabaret and Ball will be set in a Steampunk-Inspired setting that is enhanced by the French architecture of Home2 Suites and Parc Lafayette. This unique environment will enhance the immersive experience of the event.

Patrons are encouraged to draw inspiration from 1890’s Paris, The Phantom of the Opera, and Steampunk tropes to build their own costumes. The Phantom of the Opera has been made into numerous horror movies and plays and these may serve as additional inspiration to build your unique Ball ensembel

New Orleans SteamCog Orchestra

Live Music

The New Orleans SteamCog Orchestra will be headlining the Saturday March 11 2023 Cabaret and Ball at Louisiana’s First Annual World Steampunk Exposition at Home2 Suites in Parc Lafayette – Lafayette, LA.
The New Orleans Steamcog Orchestra is quite an entertaining spectacle, furnishing the sophisticated and yet strangely modern sounds of turn-of-the-century ingenuity! Based in New Orleans and fronted by ‘thousandaire’ inventor and philanthropist Prof. Milo Reginald Pinkerton, this band of adventurers was culled from far flung city and countryside alike across the Earth to unite in furthering Prof. Pinkerton’s singular steam-powered vision: the excitement of audience ears, minds and feet. The group has vowed not to rest, until the entire world is dancing madly to their syncopated rhythms and humming their memorable melodies.
Turning the Ball into an instant ‘turn of the century’ party, The NewOrleans Steamcog Orchestra takes the sounds of old New Orleans out of the museum and onto the dance floor, leading audiences on a steam-powered joyride back in time. Male & female singers mix with trumpet, trombone, bass, xylophone, piano, clarinet and banjo. With the steady beat provided by ‘COGSWORTHY’, their amazing clockwork drummer.
