New Panel: Arthur Conan Doyle, Bram Stoker, Sherlock, and Dracula: Victorian Friends and Foes

Panelist Jane Almquist is a lifelong seeker of All Things Curious and Interesting. A dedicated Anglophile, her literary interests led to a love of Sherlock Holmes and the Victorian era. A member of several scion societies of the Baker Street Irregulars, Jane is a frequent presenter at her local scion, as well as at regional Sherlockian gatherings around the country. Active in local theater, she has graced the stage in a number of Sherlockian plays, where the game is always afoot and nothing is as elementary as it seems. Jane will be presenting a panel titled: Arthur Conan Doyle, Bram Stoker, Sherlock, and Dracula: Victorian Friends and Foes.

The presentation will explore the literary world of Victorian London, the background and inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula (Not Vlad the Impaler!), the friendship and sometime collaboration between Doyle and Stoker, and modern-day pastiches pitting Sherlock against Dracula.
